The definition of art is “The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination”. What better way of describing art is there? Oh wait. There is. Perhaps a longer one… But it makes sense. Art is so amazing, I don’t even know what else to say. It’s like escaping into a world where you’re the imaginer, creater, do-er, EVERYTHING. You shape it, say it, stroke it, brush it, touch it, make it, blah blah blah.. The list goes on. The glossy acrylic texture, the bumpy oil canvas, the waxy old crayon colored paper, the smooth, smudged pencil-shaded sketch, the creamy pastel colors, the soaking paint brushes on your bathroom sink… Art has a feeling. It has emotion, drama, a story, and it’s a subject with a gajillion other subjects, topics, and sub-topics. From the type of material you choose to work on, be it wood, canvas, poster, paper, or whatever, to the genre you use on it, like acrylic, oil, watercolor, charcoal, pencil, MIXED MEDIA FOR GODS SAKE!
But why don’t artists pursue art and design instead of going for the quotidian, boring old business, journalism, medical, etc etc etc? There are enough people for that, mate! Honestly, art really needs some innovative new styles that are flamboyant, showy, and stand out in a gallery. So what if many people think art is just what those french weird-hatted people do on the street? It’s so much more. Think about all the different careers you can have after majoring in sometime related to art! Interior designing, fashion designing, architecture, exterior designing, concept designing, illustrating, and again, the list goes on. So what’s the logic behind giving it up and being another face in the crowd? Your family thinks you’re stupid because of it? Others are always better? You don’t have your own style? Develop it! Show people what you are and what you can do! On a rainy day, quit being lazy and go paint even when you don’t feel like it! What better feeling is there when you finish a painting in one 13-hour sitting?! It’s amazing <3 I just love art more than anything in the world.
Here are some of my old sketches and paintings. There are only a few pages from my sketchbooks, though…
Can you see the plunger? ;) (up) ^
This was drawn in India below my building. The car pretty much proves that :)
Smoking woman I drew just yesterday. Yes, she’s supposed to be ugly. The mole :P
Just some random things.
Here are just two of my paintings I made a long ago.
This ^ is actually a copied painting originally made by the amazing knife painter called Leonid Afremov. I used a knife as well :)
I made this because I played the violin and I love it so much :’)
Hope you liked it :) I don’t mind some constructive criticism. Feel free to comment!
